Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
MTD for Income Tax
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD for ITSA) is a fundamental change to how self-employed individuals and landlords report their income to HMRC. From April 2026, those with qualifying income over £50,000 will be required to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC using compatible software.

Tax Tips
For limited company directors
I often find myself reciting tax rules to my Limited Company clients who are looking to branch out in different ways but finding HMRC or Companies House have tightened their belts over the years. In this section, I would like to turn the table and remind you what you CAN DO, which people often forget. Get the company to fund a small part of your lifestyle without incurring additional tax charges.
The limits mentioned below reset every tax year, so now is the perfect time to plan ahead to make sure you don't miss out! As always, please visit the HMRC website to verify the information yourself before implementing anything mentioned below to ensure it applies to you. Alternatively, please get in contact with me to discuss.
T&Cs apply, please visit HMRC's website to check what applies to you.
Accounts
Year-end accounts
You've spent the year keeping customers happy and doing the work. When it's time to pull the numbers together, we take that job off your plate. Prepared properly, filed on time, and explained in plain English.
What we prepare
Statutory accounts, tax calculations, and your company tax return, all checked, tidy, and submitted to the right places on time.
- Statutory year-end accounts
- We support your growing business
- Accounts filed at Companies House
- Full review before anything is submitted
What you get from it
A clear view of where your business actually stands, not just paperwork for HMRC, but genuine insight to help you plan ahead.
- Understand what's driving your results
- Spot creeping costs before they grow
- Compare this year to last with confidence
- Make your next move with real numbers
Tax planning
Good tax planning happens throughout the year, not just at deadline time. We flag opportunities early so there are fewer surprises as you grow.
- Year-round tax efficiency advice
- Options explained before decisions are made
- No surprises at year-end
- Tailored to how your business operates
Regular meetings
We don't hand over a stack of paperwork and disappear. Everything is walked through in plain language so you know what went well and what to watch.
- No jargon, no confusion
- We talk through anything unexpected
- You're never left to figure it out alone
- Support that helps you make smart decisions
Tax
We handle the numbers. You run the business.
Tax returns aren't complicated when you have the right people doing them. We keep everything accurate, on time, and as painless as possible, so HMRC gets what it needs, and you get on with your day.
Company Tax Return
Your annual financial summary for HMRC. Profits, calculations, and everything that needs to add up correctly. We prepare it all and file on your behalf.
- Corporation tax and Partnership tax for LLPs
- Tax calculations done correctly
- Filed with HMRC on time
- Sensible tax-saving opportunities flagged
Self Assessment
If you have income that isn't taxed at source, dividends, rental income, self-employment, HMRC needs to know. Deadline is 31 January. We keep you well ahead of it.
- All income sources covered
- Submitted online, correctly
- Clear summary of what you owe and when
- No last-minute January panic
Company Secretarial
The admin that keeps your company compliant
Every limited company has ongoing filing obligations, whether you're actively trading or not. We keep you on top of them quietly, so nothing slips through the cracks.
What we take care of
The routine filings and deadlines that need to happen every year, handled accurately and on time, without you having to think about them.
- Confirmation statement filed at Companies House
- Changes to directors or registered address
- Maintaining statutory registers
Why it matters
Missing a Companies House deadline or filing incorrect information can lead to fines and a strike-off notice. It's easily avoided, but only if someone's watching the calendar.
- Avoid late filing penalties
- Keep your company in good standing
- Peace of mind that nothing's been missed
- We flag anything that needs your attention
P11D
P11D & benefits in kind
If your company provides perks like private medical cover, life insurance, or a company car, HMRC needs to know. P11D forms calculate the tax due on those benefits and getting them wrong can be costly. We prepare and submit everything for you.
What we prepare & submit
We handle the full P11D process — from gathering benefit details to filing the completed forms with HMRC by the 6 July deadline.
- P11D forms for each employee receiving benefits
- P11D(b) — employer's Class 1A National Insurance return
- Calculation of tax on all benefits in kind
- Submitted to HMRC accurately and on time
Benefits we commonly cover
Most employee benefits have a taxable value that needs to be reported. If your company provides any of the following, a P11D is likely required.
- Private medical & dental insurance
- Life insurance & death in service cover
- Company cars & fuel benefit
- Loans, vouchers & non-cash benefits
