Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Country Accountant Surrey website and any online tools we make available, including our client portal and integrations with third-party services such as Xero. By using the website you agree to these terms.
About us
Country Accountant Surrey is a UK accountancy practice based in Cranleigh, Surrey, providing accountancy, bookkeeping, tax and related advisory services to small businesses, sole traders and landlords. References to "we", "us" and "our" mean Country Accountant Surrey. You can reach us at info@countryaccountantsurrey.co.uk.
Engagement letters take precedence
If you have engaged us as your accountant, the terms of your engagement letter set out the specific scope, fees, responsibilities and limitations that apply to the work we do for you. Where anything in these website terms conflicts with your engagement letter, the engagement letter prevails for matters within its scope.
Information on the website is not advice
Content on this website — including pages on Making Tax Digital, accounts, tax, payroll, P11D, company secretarial work and any newsletters or briefings we publish — is provided for general information only. It is not intended to be, and should not be relied upon as, professional advice for any specific situation. Tax and accounting rules change frequently and depend on individual circumstances. Always speak to a qualified adviser, including by engaging us under a written engagement letter, before acting on anything you read here.
Acceptable use
- You must not use the website or any of our online tools for unlawful purposes, to harass others, or in any way that could damage, disable or impair the service.
- You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts or data that do not belong to you.
- You must not introduce malicious code, automate access in a way that places undue load on our systems, or scrape content for republication without permission.
- You are responsible for keeping the credentials used to access the client portal secure, and for any activity that occurs under those credentials.
Third-party integrations
Where you authorise us to connect to a third-party service (for example Xero, your bank feed provider or your e-signing provider), you grant us permission to access and process information from that service strictly to perform the work you have asked us to do. You can revoke that authorisation at any time, either through the third party's own controls or by contacting us. The third party's own terms and privacy notices continue to apply to your use of that service. We are not responsible for outages, errors or changes made by those third parties.
Intellectual property
All content on this website — including text, images, branding and design — is owned by Country Accountant Surrey or our licensors and is protected by copyright. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other reproduction or commercial use requires our written permission.
Availability
We aim to keep the website and our online tools available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to suspend, withdraw or change any part of the service at any time without notice.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Subject to that, and except where you have engaged us under a separate engagement letter (in which case the liability provisions of that letter apply to the work covered by it), we are not liable for any business losses, lost profits, lost data, or indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the website.
External links
The website may link to other websites and services we do not control. Those links are provided for convenience only; their inclusion does not imply endorsement, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page indicates when they were last changed. By continuing to use the website after a change you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
